The course will throw light on Films, Censorship, Freedom of Speech, Legal Implications, Copyright and more with a comparative discourse on films and freedom in India and across the world. The course examines the definition of Censorship, its relevance and prevalence in India and around the world. Censorship is the act of altering and/or banning content that is objectionable, harmful, immoral, illegal, sensitive and illicit as per the law and common perception. The course explains censorship laws and guidelines and applicability to films and documentaries as a visual medium of communication and broadcasting media such as public screenings, television and the internet. The course also examines constitutional rights of freedom of speech and expression.
